The questions we often get from folks before they try our products.
Are these chickpeas
No, they are hazelnuts. The reason why they are not brown is that we roast them for 30 mins with no additives and we get rid of the skins with an air-flow machine to make them perfect.
What makes your hazelnuts special?
We source fresh hazelnuts from the Ordu-Giresun region of Turkey. Turkey produces more than 70% of the world’s hazelnuts and the ones from this region are significantly crunchier and tastier than all others because of the land and climate.
Do you make your products locally?
No. Unlike other companies, we process our products in Turkey while the hazelnuts are still fresh. We then package them there in order to keep them fresh. Typically the transit period takes more than 2 months for hazelnuts and they lose their freshness during this period. This is another reason why our hazelnuts are unlike other hazelnuts you can find in Canada.
Are you local?
Yes! Tastia is an Edmonton-based business and proud of it.
What is the difference between your spreads?
Our Crunchy Spread is very nutty as it contains 70% hazelnuts. Think of it as a sweet nut butter that smells a little like vanilla. The Creamy spread, one the other hand, is silky smooth and contains 40% hazelnuts, along with sugar, milk, coconut oil and sunflower oil.

How should I consume/eat your products?
Our spreads are breakfast staples and they are a great alternative to peanut butter or store-bought chocolate-hazelnut spreads. They are great on toast, waffles, cakes, in your oatmeal, smoothie bowl, or pastries. Our favorite way to eat a crunchy spread is by the spoonful.
What is your sugar source?
We use natural sugar from sugar beet.
Are your products vegan?
Our hazelnuts and crunchy spread are vegan. The creamy spread however contains milk.
Are your products gluten-free?
Yes, all of our products are gluten-free.
Are your products palm oil-free?
We don’t use palm oil in our products. Instead we use coconut and sunflower oil.
Should I refrigerate your spreads?
No, they do not need to be refrigerated, instead keep them at room temperature for the best texture.
When is the best before date?
You can find the best before dates on the lids or the back of the hazelnuts pouch.
How quickly should your products be consumed once opened?
Although there is no health risk, we recommend you to consume hazelnuts in 7-10 days and the spreads up to 3 weeks.
Is your packaging sustainable?
Yes. We use recyclable kraft pouches for our hazelnuts and glass jars for our spreads.
